Marius (holding his head in his hands)- Mom, I have a BIG problem and I need your help.
Me- What it is?
Marius- well, see on Minecraft I found a diamond!! BUT I don't know if I should make a diamond hoe, so I would have a completed tool collection, OR save the diamond.
Me- Well, would you like to have the whole tool set?

Marius- YES.
Me- ok then go with the diamond hoe.

So weird today, I was here all alone. Big Ernie was at work, lil Ernie at his moms, and Marius was with his Aunt Nickie, Debbie and Jordan. Nice and quiet but I was still happy when they started coming back lol.

Moved my old computer into lil ernies room, now it looks like he works for NASA with everything in there.

Had a great Memorial day weekend. Shopping, bbqing and gaming. Ernie got me LA Noire to play. We were going to go to the fireworks last night but changed our minds. Glad we did too. Had a great bbq here.

Still feeling a little sick, better soon hopefully!! Looking forward to a little getaway with my hubby next weekend!! So excited!! Marius is going over to his Gramma's house today, he loves it being summer so he can see her more often =)

Things have been going pretty well health wise... until yesterday lol. I took a bath because my leg muscles have been achy. Been using the pool and trying to use the muscles to get them strong again. Well... that was partly a bad idea. I was getting out of the bath and somewhere between sitting and standing, WAY closer to standing, I felt my legs start to shake and knew I couldn't stop it, BAM back into the tub. So today, needless to say I feel like I was hit by a truck.

On the plus side my hubby got me Lego Pirates of the Caribbean so at least I have had something to do.

And I have to enjoy this time of Marius' life... he thinks I am a genius at math!! LMAO And I got him signed up for football again. =)

Mothers Day

Had an awesome Mothers day. Spent it with Ernie, Marius, My parents, Nickie, Nick, Nick Jr, Debbie and Jordan. We had a bbq with lots of good food.

Ernie and Marius bought me a necklace that says mom, a dragonfly wind charm, a harry potter movie and Marius made me a card =) Nickie got me flowers and a balloon (although Marius and Jordan seemed to think the balloon was for them hehe) . Early in the day ernie, marius and I went in the pool and had a lot of fun. It then got windy but we still had a good day.

That is how mothers days should be =)

The name Hefner (Havner, Heavner, Heaffner, Heffner) is a German dialect word meaning potter, and is still standard Pennsylvania German. In Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Holland one can still read this name in shop windows and telephone directories.

Melchoir Hefner (Melcar Havner) arrived in the US on 1 Sept 1734 on the ship St. Andrew Galley with Captain John Stedman from Rotterdam, Holland. With many other German immigrants seeking a new life in America, Melchoir landed at a port in Maryland. At age 16, he found that new home in Frederick Co, MD.

From Maryland land records we find that Melchoir Hefner and his wife, Anna Catharina, owned tracts of land in Frederick County called "Peace" and "New Germany," which they sold, in 1772, after moving to what is now Catawba County.

Why they left Maryland for North Carolina we have no record, but they must have heard from relatives who had preceded them of the good life in this area. On December 13, 1770, Melchoir and Catharina purchased 350 acres of land in Linclon County which was named "The Plantation." A year or so later in December 1771 or 1772, they arrived in North Carolina to make their home.

All of this couple's children were born in Maryland. Fortitude and courage were shown in traveling through Indian territory to make a home for this group.

In an early history of the Teague Family of Alexander County, "Jacob Hefner's father was John Hefner, who was a drummer in the Revolutionary War. John's father was Melchoic Hefner who was a soldier in the same struggle for American independence." John J. Hefner is listed on the Revolutionary War roster of Lincoln County as being in Company C--10th Regiment.

New Year's Day

Yesterday we hung out with my parents and then Nickie and Nick while Ernie took a nap so he could get back up for midnight.... it didn't work LOL. We watched the ball drop and told Marius it was 2010 at 10pm, then we went to bed.

Today Marius and I went shopping with his Gramma. I decided I am going to re-do our kitchen decorations. Ernie got the new stove hood put in. All in all a very good few days :)

Changing meds

So my doctor decided to switch me from Embrel shots to Remicade IV drip since my psoriasis isn't making any improvement. I am always in pain, especially at night. Poor Ernie has to rub my legs everynight so I can get some sleep. I talked to some ladies that were on it , an 81 year old that had been on it since it came out, non for psoriatic arthritis, but they all said it was wondeful.

I just really hope it does something for me. The scary part is I have to go off my meds NOW and won't start the new ones until November 17th. It is 2 hours each time, after I start I don't know how long until I feel better. Going to be in a lot of pain until then. My knee and hip are already hurting.

Soooo, they are going to charge her with stealing her OWN records. And knowing the problems that some people have had getting their OWN records I can totally see why she did it. I know people that have fought for years to get their records to new doctors. I hope she gets away with it lol

I am so very tired. I am finally having to admit that maybe having psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are effecting me more than just pain wise. I am 34 and have had psoriasis since I was about 8, PA since about 15. And I have been trying to say oh, I am just tired. But man oh man am I tired. After we go to California or anywhere for a day, or people come out to visit, I need at least 2 days of rest before I am feeling better.

I could fall asleep sitting here right now. And I am getting full nights of sleep. I guess it is just getting harder for me to deal with it in my old age haha

Just had to complain for a bit lol. I am going to go lay down now... I will be around later I am sure =)

I was bitten by an alligator...

ok, not a real one and it was just one tooth but still how many people can say that lol.

Here is what happened. Ernie has a little alligator head that his friend brought him back from his parents house when he went to visit. It was about 6 inches long and freaked me out. So we were rearranging the house yesterday and I noticed my dog Jasper was just going to town eating something. I went over to check it out and it was the damn alligator head!! She ate the whole bottom jaw. I have no idea how the teeth didn't hurt her. She isn't sick. we were worried about all the stuff they use to preserve it but she is fine today.

Any ways I gave my son and step son this big speech about being careful because some of the teeth may be around and it would hurt *picture me shaking my finger at them, making sure they understand* . Took about 4 steps away and BAM something was in my foot. It hurt SO bad. I looked down and there was blood gushing out from my foot through my sock , I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital!! Ernie came over and looked at it and stopped the bleeding, it was a teeny tiny cut. I think it was one of the stupid little teeth.

Ernie was laughing saying I am one of the only people he knows that could have that much blood from a freaking alligator tooth on the ground. It is just a bizarre way to get hurt LMAO

Christmas Parade and Festival

Last night we went to the Christmas parade and Festival here in town and had a blast!! The parade was so much better than I was expecting, it was a lot of fun other than getting hit on the coller bone by a jaw breaker being thrown from a float lol.

And Marius actually went and saw Santa. He marched his little butt up there, told him he wanted a Kareoke(sp?) machine and then high fived him :)

At first during the parade the bigger kids were beating Marius to the candy, but then his Uncle Nick and some lady we met started helping him get some. We came home with a freaking bag full of candy!!

What is the weirdest dream you have ever had?

I used to have this dream whenever I was upset or scared. I had it until I started dating Ernie lol.

I was in a huge warehouse place, it was all dark except for a light right in the middle of the room, over a red and white checked table and chair set I had as a kid. Sometimes someone I knew was sitting there, sometimes it was empty. But I could hear all kinds of machines just out of the light. Sometimes I would be chased around but usually I just sat at the table scared.

Tell about handed down talents.

From my momm- you can give me any assortment of craft things, and I can make SOMETHING out of it lol. Wind chimes out of soda cans, Christmas decorations out of bell ornaments and ribbons, whatever it is, I can usually come up with something. Now how good it is varies depending on the supplies and my mood lol. From her I also get my love of scrapbooking, which I have turned into tagging, and making cards. None of which I get to do enough lol

From my dadd- well. I can ruin the punch line of a joke with the best of em lol. But he did teach me how to change a tire, change the oil, check to see when you can open the radiator if it over heated, mostly stuff having to do with cars. He wanted to make sure I could take care of my self. And I can... I would just rather have a man do it hehe

Everyone is ok, a little in shock still lol. Just another day in our crazy life. The lady that lives up the hill across the street got out of her running truck to go inside and tell her friend something... then the truck rolled backwards down her steep driveway, took out the neighbors fence and their for sale sign, then took out our fence and hit the side of the house. There is a little crack on the outside and a bunch of stuff got knocked down inside but other than the fence no real damage.

Just cooking some pizza for the boys, we have Cody for 3 days this week. Been pretty quiet. The directv receiver in the living room broke, I brought the one out from our bedroom and got it fixed all by myself, go me =)

I got sucked in by a Lifetime movie this afternoon. There's two hours of my life I'll never get back haha.

My (Kimm's) Story

I was diagnosed with psoriasis when I was a kid and with psoriatic arthritis when I was about 16. It was just in my knee at the time. Over the years it has spread to where now I have it in: my hands, elbows, shoulders, spine, right knee, ankles, feet and toes.

I can't completely straighten my right arm due to permanent damage in my elbow, one of my toes is bent from it and very painful. My right knee and sometimes my left are so swollen I have trouble bending them. Depending on where the pain currently is, certain daily tasks are hard for me.

My treatment

I am currently on Humira shots, once every two weeks and methotrexate pills. The Humira has made a major improvement in my life. The only draw back is that it lowers my ability to fight illness so when I get sick I have to go off the shots until I am better.

**UPDATE 6/25/2008. I am now on Embrel and have been for a few months. World of difference!!! I can move!! No idea how long it will last but I am enjoying every minute of it**

What is psoriatic arthritis?

Psoriatic (sore-EE-AA-tick) arthritis is a rheumatic condition ,a disease of the joints, and is often seen in combination with skin that is red, dry, and scaly ,psoriatic skin lesions.

Psoriasis is a common skin condition affecting 2% of the Caucasian population in the United States. Approximately 10% of patients who have psoriasis also develop an associated inflammation of their joints (which means it is pretty rare and I really "beat the odds" to get it lol). Patients who have inflammatory arthritis and psoriasis are diagnosed as having psoriatic arthritis.

Psoriatic arthritis is a systemic rheumatic disease that can also cause inflammation in body tissues away from the joints other than the skin, such as in the eyes, heart, lungs, and kidneys. Psoriatic arthritis shares many features with several other arthritic conditions, such as ankylosising spondylitis, reactive arthritis (formerly Reiter's syndrome), and arthritis associated with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. All of these conditions can cause inflammation in the spine and other joints, and the eyes, skin, mouth, and various organs. In view of their similarities and tendency to cause inflammation of the spine, these conditions are collectively referred to as "spondyloarthropathies."

What psoriatic arthritis can do to your joints

Psoriatic arthritis may involve the spine, hands, shoulders, elbows, feet, knees, or ankles (HEY, I have it is all of those, do I win for my can do spirit? lol ). It can cause: Progressive joint damage , General joint stiffness , Pain and stiffness in the lower back, neck, and upper back (I have all those too, when I decide to get a debilitating disease I go all the way lol). The inflamed joints become painful, swollen, hot, and red.

What else can psoriatic arthritis do?

Aside from arthritis and spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis can cause inflammation in other organs, such as the eyes, lungs, and aorta. Inflammation in the colored portion of the eye (iris) causes iritis, a painful condition that can be aggravated by bright light as the iris opens and closes the opening of the pupil. Corticosteroids injected directly into the eyes are sometimes necessary to decrease inflammation and prevent blindness. Inflammation in and around the lungs (pleuritis) causes chest pain, especially with deep breathing, as well as shortness of breath. Inflammation of the aorta (aortitis) can cause leakage of the aortic valve valves, leading to heart failure and shortness of breath.

Lets see… I am now a happily married woman :) Woohoo lol. The wedding went well. No one passed out or anything.I have been working on my website and hanging out in the pool with Marius trying to stay cool. I think it hit 115 today =(

I accidentally paid my parents electric instead of ours through a stupid mistake. I fell and hit my house, cause you know, it is kinda small and I didn’t see it lol.

Had a good visit with Toni and Ernie's brother Edward and his friend Jason. Really just hanging out. Not too much going on now thankfully.

Ok, I am tired. It has been a LONG day.

* Marius had a force 10 fit because he didn’t want his daddy to go to work
* He got into my make up. Smeared white powder all over his face. Why did I even HAVE white powder make-up???
* We got in the pool, played a little bit. Marius is trying to swim, I think he might learn on his own soon
* It was time to get out. He went to the middle and said, try and get me
* He finally got out then cried because I put pool chemicals in.
* He cried because I turned the filter on
* We had dinner
* Marius dumped all of the fish food out in the play room
* He then cried because he couldn’t feed the fish

Now he is sitting nice and quiet watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He just asked me if he was being a good boy. Why yes you are… for once today LOL

Well, that didn’t last long. He is up and sitting here telling me he has an owie and I can be the band aid worker because he puts on one and it just “boings” back up. And now he is back at the TV. BTW, there wasn’t an owie lol.

Getting Married!!

So Ernie and I are finally getting married :) We have been together for over 6 years and wanted to get married sooner but his divorce got majorly stalled in court. It took over 3 YEARS to get it done. Most of that was just waiting for the courts, at one point Ernie called and the last bit of paper work was sitting in the file, no one had given it to the judge!! Such a joke lol.

But we are finally tying the knot. I am getting really excited now. We aren't going to have a big wedding, just a few people there in a little chapel with the reception here at our house. But I am so happy to be finally marrying him. Everyone forgets we aren't married and calls us husband and wife anyways, might as well make it legal lmao.

Rodeo

We took Marius to the Rodeo last Thursday, it was SO much fun!! The night before Ernie told me there was no way Marius was getting a cowboy hat, so we got him a cowboy hat LOL.

There was a clown that performed between events, that was his favorite part.
